Words from senior students

Class of 110, Yang Tsai-Wei (Kaohsiung, Zhongshan High School Affiliated to Sun Yat-sen University)

Physical therapy is a field of treatment that utilizes physical properties, primarily encompassing seven foundational modalities: sound, light, water, cold, heat, force, and electricity. Based on the pathological symptoms presented by patients, the field is divided into four major specialties: orthopedics, neurology, cardiopulmonary, and pediatrics. Ultimately, appropriate treatment plans are tailored for individual patients.

Our department's well-structured and rigorous curriculum helps students progressively enhance their professional knowledge and skills under the guidance of expert professors. One of our key features is the practical courses designed by the faculty, which allow students to combine hands-on experience with theoretical knowledge through actual practice.

Additionally, extracurricular department activities such as freshman camps, alumni interviews, and cross-departmental Christmas parties foster harmonious interactions among students, enriching their academic journey. We look forward to your joining us in advancing the field of physical therapy together!

Class of 108, Tsai Tsung-Che (Tainan, Tainan Second Senior High School)

In numerous practical courses, under the meticulous guidance of every professor, students gradually enhance their professional abilities and confidence.

Beyond academics, the department's student association organizes various activities, such as freshman camps, Christmas parties, and alumni talks where graduates return to share their experiences, making university life even more vibrant and fulfilling. Class of 106, Huang Chen-En (Taipei, Zhongzheng Senior High School)

Common conditions such as frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, cervicogenic headache, de Quervain’s tenosynovitis, and sports injuries are all areas where physical therapy can intervene. In class, we learn treatment techniques from professors, including manual therapy, equipment-based therapy, and exercise therapy. Our greatest strength lies in our ability to assess and treat patients using just our hands, which makes our skills highly practical. As a result, many of us often apply what we’ve learned in class to help friends and family address their issues during holidays.

Beyond academics, the department organizes a wide variety of exciting activities, such as freshman camps, Christmas parties, alumni talks, and diverse lectures. These events ensure that in your four years of university, you not only acquire professional knowledge but also grow emotionally and mentally. We warmly invite you to join us and embark on the journey to becoming an exceptional physical therapist!
